I got the same.
I tried the Windows graphical version. In the config box 
(http://www.manymacs.plus.com/fold.png) it says it needs to use port 8080.. I 
have opened port 8080 on my router, and it still can't connect as you can see 
in that screenshot, and same is listed in the log file.

The folding@example.com site doesn't give any helpful information.

If anyone manages to find out what is going on exactly, let me know!
