[tlug] "interactive" perl

I've been using perl for only about a year now, doing all the typical
things. This afternoon I sat down to write a programme that asks a few
questions, displays a bit of data and makes some changes.

I've got a rude shock at the way input is handled interactively, ie very
badly. Neither read nor sysread work.

Does anyone have some tips?
