[tlug] forcing an app to run single-threaded?

hello,

i am having problems with a deadlocking 
app on my SMP workstation. i'd like to
verify that it is an SMP issue my turning
off SMP, but i'm too lazy to recompile
my kernel right now. is there a way to
force an application to run singlethreaded
on an SMP box?
