... which is okay if you're not paranoid.  All sorts of nasty things can be
done to a running system if LKM is enabled -- and if the nasty module was
written halfway-decently, the changes would not be perceptible.  Tripwire
doesn't work if the kernel is munging things to match the audit signatures.

I consider modules to be more trouble than they are worth.  'Course, I'm 
apparently a dinosaur.
