- Subject: [tlug] Apache running as root?
In checking basic security on my web srever I noticed that Apache has 6 httpd processes running and one of them (lowest pid) is running as root and the other 5 running as nobody. Is having the httpd running as root normal? Is it safe? I read that apache needed to start running as root in order to bind to port 80 but that after that it would switch to user nobody . . . However I still have the oneprocess running as root. Thanks! jc _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
