[tlug] gpl

Tluggers,
I know that we have some people here experienced in legal stuff.
I'm working on an java application that my company is intending to
release under the GPL. The application is using a library licensed under
a BSD style license.
Can I link my application to it or is it a GPL violation?
I have a feeling it is. Should I rather change to LGPL?
