Hi all - The other day I discovered forwarding X by accident - I was logged in over ssh to my office from home, using an X-term. Out of habit, I typed 'sylpheed &' to start up my mail and was quite surprised to see my *work* account pop up, instead of my home account. (Did I just hear 100 veteran TLUGgers say "Well, duhhh!"?) I knew that you could forward X programs, but thought you had to set some display variables and frankly I never had a use for it before. Anyway, my question is this: If I open up a remote program while using SSH, is the entire program being transmitted in an encrypted fashion, or is it spawning a non-encrypted X session? (In which case, I better take a look at what my firewall isn't doing right...)
