I remember I've had the gnome-panel behind the sawfish windows and once I'd mouse-over the panel it would rise above the focused window. After a new install of RH 7.1 I can't find that very check box, which obviously needs to be checked in order to get this behaviour back. In panel - global properties - miscellaneous, I found 'raise panel on mouse-over' and 'Keep panel below windows' which I checked both, but the panel always stays below the windows. If I uncheck 'Keep panel below windows' the panel's always on top. Is my gnome installation malfunctioning or did I just miss something? Sven
