Try 'expert text' to start the install in text mode. Choose to install whatever
you need, including X and boot into text mode after the install. You can then
configure X with 'Xconfigurator'.

No dont get Suicide. Then again, its better than the other options. If youre
really depressed, wait for Win XP. :)

Depends on how much RAM you have and how much youll use after installation. I
have one server with 1GB of swap and a lappy with just 8MB (+8MB physical RAM).
About 100MB should be more than enough for swap. For starters, just use the rest
of the disk for '/'.
