well, the encrypted password stuff is settable in smb.conf. all the ones that I've seen, the default is to NOT encrypt them (that's the default as it comes when you build from source, anyway, IIRC). Win98 *does* encrypt passwords. it's Win95 that does not. I have a registry file for Win98 that will make it do non-encrypted, though, if anyone needs. ----------------------------------------------------- Scott M. Could you explain this in more detail? I though it was the other way around, Samba by *default* used encrypted passwords which made win98 and NT4/SP3 not work.
