Hello, I am studying Japanese and tried recently to get Japanese input to work under Linux. I did a bit of reading, and finally the page that really helped me get it to work was http://anime.collapsar.net/nihongo/JIM/. It worked for a while, then all of a sudden it didn't anymore - I have no idea what happened! I installed canna, the server is working and it even gets started automatically at boot time, although I don't know how I managed that... When I try to start kinput from a kterm, this is the error message I get (sorry for the romaji, I couldn't copy-paste the error-message with the kanji in it): # /usr/bin/X11/kinput2 -canna & [1] 1064 # Warning: (kana kanji henkan saaba to tsuushin dekimasen) And of course, kinput is not listed among cannas servers: # cannastat Connected to unix Canna Server (Ver. 3.5) No clients # The biggest problem is that I don't really know where to go on looking... Oh, btw, I have RH 7 and am only beginning under Linux... Can anyone help me, even if only by pointing to some documentation I might have missed?
