Wnn problem

Hullo folks,

This is my first email to tlug for a very long time. Since I'm in Tokyo
and using Linux, I thought I should get in touch.

I'm back in the wars with Wnn again. Some moons ago a change of network
configuration resulted in kinput2 losing touch with jserver. I fiddled a
bit, broke it completely, and since I was busy with other things, left
it.

Today I completely reinstalled Wnn 4.2 and kinput2 and started again. I
still have the same trouble:

	- wnn seems to start up OK at boot time. It reports it's reading
its dictionary files, etc. and 'ps ax' and 'top' show that the
	daemon is there.

	- wnnstat can't find it, just reporting:
	   "$B%5!<%P$H@example.com$G$-$^$;$s$G$7$?(B"

	- kinput2 can't find it, reporting:
"Warning: ccWnn Object: can't connect to jserver"

This happens regardless of whether I run it with "-jserver"
set to "localhost", the host-name, or the IP address

Yudit, which also uses the kinput2 protocol, can't find it
either. In this case it reports: "error: no kinput type
'_JAPANESE_CONVERSION' is known to X server."

Has anyone a suggestion or two?

Cheers

Jim

PS: I'm going to try & get to Saturday's meeting.
