Thanks to all for their help. I _still_ would like to know if it is possible to read those broken packets somehow, and if so, how to do it. >>>>> "Scott" == Scott M Stone <sstone@example.com> writes: Scott> 2) faulty cabling somewhere >>>>> "Stephen" == Stephen J Turnbull <turnbull@example.com> writes: Stephen> Very possible, the wiring is getting old (going on 8 years now). My friendly local technician jiggled the wires, and the errors have gone away as far as I can tell. So it looks like Scott wins the prize. And there was no need to disturb Beavis at play. I will advocate to my budget committee that we keep a bunch of spare transceivers around (thanks to Jonathan and Frank for sharing their experience). Actually, I'll advocate upgrading to a faster medium, but what I'll probably get is spare 10Base5 transceivers :-) -- University of Tsukuba Tennodai 1-1-1 Tsukuba 305-8573 JAPAN Institute of Policy and Planning Sciences Tel/fax: +81 (298) 53-5091 _________________ _________________ _________________ _________________ What are those straight lines for?
