>Hello >I was using openssh-1.2.1 for a while and recently switched to >openssh-2.1.1 Ugh, I feel unpure and tainted by answering this question. First of all get a real ssh implementation freesoftware is no good if it's crap. (www.ssh.org) >With the older version of openssh, I could establish connection to >my server over the Internet. With the newer version, the keys that >are generated by ssh-keygen do not allow me to connect to my >server. The server accepts the keys generated by the older version >of ssh. Do people ever read documentation these days??? There _is_ a fundemental difference between ssh 1 and ssh 2 namedly stuff like this happens. >My ssh client is TeraTerm Pro for windows. I do not think that >should make any difference. This client works fine with the old >keys and the new server. I do not why the new keys are not working >with the new server. Well duh, note that the following message is prominetly featured on the openssh page: *NEW*OpenSSH 2.1.1 released June 8, 2000 (contains support for both SSH1 and SSH2 protocols) And if you paid attention to the TTSSH page: "Compatible with SSH protocol version 1.5" To put it in simple words, the new keys you made are for SSH2 which is unsupported by TTSSH Yours, -- Austin K.
