The two are joined at the hip, so to speak.  The list of people who
would refuse to use anything that Dan Bernstein wrote, solely because
he wrote it, and without regard to any merits (or lack thereof) of the
software, is long but distinguished.

This is not an unusual phenomenon in various industries, either.
If people boycott a product, it usually has a lot more to do with
the conduct of the manufacturer than it does with the quality of
the product itself.
