Software RAID is perfectly acceptable. Even a Sun E450 does software raid amongst its internal drive arrays. (You can get an external StorEdge RAID5 array, but internally it's all software by default. Yeah, I guess you can get an internal RAID controller, too, but it's even more expensive there than on x86). What's the CPU requirement under Linux to (successfully) do a good software RAID5? -------------------------- Scott M.
