tlug: Japanese Word Count

Let me rephrase my earlier question. 

Does Xemacs, mule, or the editor in the Japanized Applixware
have a Japanese word count function? I'm using jvim these 
days but, outside of manual counting lines and columns, 
there is no word count for Japanese.
