Hmm.  I've never had a problem with building and using Canna (except
for the usual "where do the libraries go?" headache with Imake-based
installs).  Guess I'm just weird, since I've had problems with TeX and 
Simon says not.  :-)

I found that the dictionary is substantially improved, the handling of 
long entries somewhat better, and I seem to recall there were some
interface issues with Emacs that were resolved, but that was a long
long time ago; they may not be an issue anymore anyway.

Everybody on XEmacs who uses Canna uses 3.5b2.  Development doesn't
seem to be terribly active, I haven't been following the list but it
only seems to get about 5-10 posts per month, presumably a lot are
user requests for help.  But there are some threads.
