tlug: pine/jp compile problems

Sorry, there's been a little temporal gap here because I was away from
my mail for a while.

Chris, thanks for posting the new patch on the tlug server.

I tried it out, and it fixed a couple of the problems that you had
mentioned, but pine and pico still won't compile and I'm at a loss for
why. I've posted the stdout and stderr from the failed build at:

http://www.inh.co.jp/~jseebach/makelog

if anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate them. Basically, mtest
and imapd compile and install, while pine, pico and pilot do not.

Someone mentioned that pine/jp sucks, and while I don't know (I've
never tried it), I've never been a big pine fan. Basically I'm looking
for a really easy editor that I can use with kinput2 in a kterm to
compose japanese mail that I'll send with mutt. The idea is that it
has to be usable not just for me, but for one of my japanese friends
who just wants to send mail without a major learning curve. Thus, jvim
(which I've used in the past) is out, as she thought that vi was a
cruel joke I was playing on her.

So I thought that perhaps pico compiled with japanese support would be
a good solution. Only i can't get it to compile.

If anyone has any other suggestions, I'd be willing to give them a try
as well. I've tried various emacs mailers and wasn't really all that
impressed.

Thanks much.
