Greetings all. 
Still trying to get Xwindows running on this machine. 
One suggestion that has come in is the inclusion of 
the following two lines in XF86Config: 

     Option      "fast_dram"
     Option      "fifo_aggressive"

They come with a rather ominious warning: 'use at your own risk'. 
Would appreciate any advice before I try them out.
