John is quoting out of context.  The ellipsis _should_ be something
like "If you ask for help with an application specific to another
operating system, and are referred to Linux software for that
application...".  Then complaining about the Linux software would be
inappropriate.

The point is that the hypothetical person started out with a more or
less inappropriate request and then flamed Linux.
