It helps when the language has extensions for parallel execution.  Various
flavors of fortran have parallel provisions (PARDO, for instance), but I'm
not aware of any for C[1].

[1] Not that I'm advocating the use of fortran over C by any means.  I'm
    working in a shop that specializes in parallel processing, and the
    indoctrination is beginning to take hold.
