I tested under a similar condition (including keystrokes that
explicitly use your different "wagahai..." patterns:-), but had no
such problems. I'm using:
	% cat patchlevel.h 
	#define KINPUT2_VERSION "version 2.0"
	#define DATE "$Date: 1997/02/03 09:19:47 $"
	#define PATCHLEVEL 3
and Wnn 4.2. Just FYI...
