That part seems OK.  Here's my lilo.conf.  Does anything seem wrong with it?
The disk has two partitions on it.  The first is a 64 meg swap partition, and
the second is all the rest, which Linux is installed in.

boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
prompt
timeout=50
image=/boot/vmlinuz
        label=linux
        root=/dev/hda2
        read-only
