it's to load your SCSI module so that the root filesystem can be mounted
:).  RH's kernel RPMs don't automatically rerun mkinitrd, I guess. (TL's
do).  remake it with:

mkinitrd -f /boot/initrd 2.0.35

And then add:

initrd=/boot/initrd

to your 'new-kernel' section.  Then rerun lilo, reboot.
