Re: tlug: NTT's MN 128 mini Terminal Adapter

Neil,
I was using that exact model on Linux with pppd. I used minicom to
set the init string that was in the instruction manual. I used the
Macintosh init string. The string is somewhere in the TLUG archives.
Maybe a search on MN128 will come up. I am in the US now and don't
have access to the MN128 right now. However, if you refer to your
manual and maybe the mail archives, you should be able to find it.

There may be easier to use configuration software out there. I did it
by hand and wrote my own series of scripts. However, there is probably
an easier way in these modern Linux times we live in. The NEC ATerm MN128
works great at either 64Kbps or 128Kbps. I also use it as a base station
for my PHS phone and route calls from my PHS through the NTT ISDN lines.

BTW, I'm still in the US and won't be back in Tokyo for the nomikai.
I'm arriving the day after I think. I tried to come back earlier,
but could not get reservations.

Regards,
Craig
