the stock xanim doesn't display all the .avi codec formats correctly, btw.
The TL one does (no flames, please :) ), so you may want to try that, as
I've patched in support for the 'optional' .avi codecs.  Or just get the
.src.rpm, rpm2cpio it, and you can see the original source and patches,
and you can patch it yourself and rebuild from source.

If done right, xanim can display any video format that I can name, and
also do sound in videos that support it.  QT (QuickTime) movies DO work,
btw.
