You can also 'mount' MSDOS floppies (and hard disk partitions) and treat
them (almost) like native filesystem disks.

    mount -t msdos /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy  (for DOS filesystems)
or  mount -t vfat /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy   (for the additional long filename
                                          extensions from Win9x)
