That would explain it, thanks.  In the images directory for 5.1 Sparc
that at looked at on several FTP sites, there was no boot.img file, just
one for tftp install, which isn't what I was looking for.   I hoped that
meant I could use a 4.2 boot.img, so I made up a disk, but apparently
that won't work. 

Do you know where I can get a boot.img for 5.1?  All of the stuff
involving RARP, etc.,  that you need to do for a tftp install is
territory that I've never ventured into and which I sorta hope I can
avoid venturing into when all I want is a nice, smooth install :-)
