Let's see ...

Drag and drop works consistently for any operation anywhere. Context
menus do sensible things for any object. You can easily create
shortcuts ("shadows" in OS/2-ese) of any object anywhere, with the
menu or by drag-and-drop. Not too different from Win95, but more
cleanly and consistently implemented. You also get by default a
program launcher to which you can add any number of buttons -- vs. the 
Win95 "start menu" where every program is crammed into one giant
cascade (bugs the hell out of me, though I guess some people like
it). You can easily delete or hide anything you don't want on your
desktop -- no Microsoft Network icon-type nonsense. You can configure
menus, program associations, etc. for individual icons or for classes
of icons.

There's probably more, but ... it's been a long time. And I've gotta
get back to work ;-)
