Tee-hee-hee.  No, it's not obvious.  There are just huge platform
dependencies in the Wnn Imakefiles (actually, there are some *.conf
files or something like that sitting around, that try to override your 
basic X11 parameters).

Once you get that fixed, you'll possibly run into problems with glibc
if you've got a glibc system.  I don't think I ever got Xwnmo built.
kinput2 is much better anyway (unless you want Chinese or Korean).

I really wouldn't bother trying to fix it; just buy Wnn6, or TL-Pro
with Wnn6.
