It would work, I guess.  I have a 1995 vintage Zeos Pentium 90 machine with
the AMD SCSI chip on board and there's nothing really wrong with it.  The
Diamond Fireport 20 in my other machine is faster, and a Fireport 40 would
be faster still, but the AMD is OK. Maybe slow compared to modern
controllers, but probably fast enough for anything I'll ever ask it to do.
