You're referring to the the fact that the "Open" group announced they
are trying to kill X by making 6.4 non free software, right?
Commercial Unix will be the biggest losers; they already tried to kill
themselves by standardizing on Motif and CDE. Apparently that wasn't
enough so the "Open" Group took charge of X and is trying to kill
it. It just means that XFree and free software will define the future
of X now.

BTW, quick scan of News for FSF Emacs 20.2.91 did not reveal any info
about Input Method support beyond Quail. I just got started to play
with it, however.
