there is a basic monitoring program called iptraf written by a gerard
paul java (riker@example.com).  you should be able to grab a copy from 
	ftp://ftp.cebu.mozcom.com:/pub/linux/net 
	ftp://sunsite.unc.edu:/pub/Linux/system/network/management
