tlug: majordomo, gzip

Hi, I'm thinking of compressing the tlug majordomo archives.

[majordom@example.com tlug]$ ls
tlug.9507 tlug.9512 tlug.9605 tlug.9610 tlug.9703 tlug.9708
tlug.9801
tlug.9508 tlug.9601 tlug.9606 tlug.9611 tlug.9704 tlug.9709
tlug.9802
tlug.9509 tlug.9602 tlug.9607 tlug.9612 tlug.9705 tlug.9710
tlug.9803
tlug.9510 tlug.9603 tlug.9608 tlug.9701 tlug.9706 tlug.9711
tlug.9511 tlug.9604 tlug.9609 tlug.9702 tlug.9707 tlug.9712

I want to give a command like gzip -some_flag * and have a copy
of all the files compressed, but still leave the original intact.
I thought I would leave them uncompressed in case some future
search program needed to access the raw files to make an
index or something. Is there any problem with majordomo
sending gzipped files with the "get" command?

Regards,
Craig
