Maybe because Debian isn't as mainstream?  no, that's wrong..
Debian's dpkg might have some interesting features, but overall, I don't
think it's better... well, it's better than slackware (IMHO), but...

Oh, and I figured it was time to change the title of this message from 'X
resolution/color depth', since, well, since the subject has changed.
