tlug: 1992 Linus/Andy Tanenbaum flame fest

Hi,
an early 1992 discussion between Linus, primary author of
Linux, and Andy Tanenbaum, primary author of Minix, is
archived at
http://www.twics.com/~craig/linux/tech/linux-mono-micro.html

The file is 220K, but it is a good, humorous read. The major
issue is monolithic kernel or microkernel. But there are some
choice thoughts like, "Re 2: your job is being a professor and
researcher: That's one hell of a good excuse for some of the
brain-damages of minix. I can only hope (and
assume) that Amoeba doesn't suck like minix does." <commented
by Linus>.

The file is pretty large (remember it is 220K), but if you
have a fast feed or patience, you might want to give it a read.

This file was originally sent to me by an old UNIX/Linux hacker
friend of mine, James Ellison, s'Cruzing in the outskirts of
silicon valley.

Regards,
Craig
