tlug: 50% packet loss

I talked with Alan Cox about that patch to ppp.c to fix the 50% packet
loss - he says that Linux optimizes PPP frames in such a way that if your
modem/TA's firmware has a faulty PPP implementation, it will not recognize
the optimization, and will drop 50%. The optimization is perfectly valid
as per the PPP specs. Win95 doesn't perform any optimization, so the
problem doesn't happen there.

Therefore, if you have an AIWA TM-AD1280 terminal adapter, you'll have to
apply that patch to use it under Linux. Therefore #2, I'm not going to
put my specially patched kernel into TL 1.4J, but I'll make it available
on the CDs in a separate directory and also by FTP.
