in my case was to complain that xjdic depends on the dictionary
packages, which cannot be found. Despite the dependency, I can
get out of the selection screen, but when it tries to configure
the software, it just fails with an error message.

I think I see the writing on the wall here. It says "Get the
source archive file and compile and install it by hand." :^)
