tlug: Question about PPP

Hi everyone!

I just joined today, but I have just realized that I have on LINUX question
for y'all... as a newbie to Linux and all, I was wondering if anyone knows
how to connect Linux with PPP?

I am now using Slackware with kernel 2.0.30, and connecting to AT&T Worldnet
Service... I thought AT&T was supposed to have good service? They couldn't
tell me anything... ahh.. but that's another story altogehter...

Anyways.. I have pretty much figured out that I should be connecting with
PAP so I have a pap-secrets file ready, and I do actually get a connect to
AT&T, but I can't seem to ping anywhere!! including AT&T...

so when I do an ifconfig ppp0, what I get is this...

ppp0 Link encap:Point-Point Protocol
          inet addr:165.76.21.201 P-t-P:165.76.23.253 Mask:255.255.0.0
          UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING MTU:1524 Metric:1
          RX packets:13 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0
          TX packets:13 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0

everything looks fine to me, but does anyone have any idea why I can't ping?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks in advance,

Mikio
