ftp.uu.net:/graphics/...  (where ... is probably "jpeg").

What version of gimp are you trying?  The 0.54 is pretty lame, the
current development versions (0.99-10?) never work for me.  There is
a patches page where some people are putting up patchsets to 0.99-10
to make it work correctly, and even a development snapshot site.
I grabbed one of these last week, and it compiled and ran OK but
it wouldn't read in a file.  I was far too lazy to actually debug
what was going on. :)
