*chuckle*  Remove /usr/bin/encaps -- the Makefile uses the existance of
this executable to switch between objcopy and encaps/objdump build
methods.

This change hasn't received nearly enough publicity -- especially in the
2.0.x-series kernels. encaps was a program included in HJ's bastardized
binutils-2.6.0.x distribution.  It did the *wrong* thing most of the time,
and was removed in binutils-2.7.  Instead of fixing objcopy, a
hacked-together utility was created ... and when objcopy was fixed, encaps
continues to wreak havoc ...

(obviously not a big fan of HJ)
