I think I missed part of this, so it may have already been mentioned.
Have you looked into adjtimex?  I unfortunately erased all my man1
pages and haven't restored from backup yet, so I can't tell you the
details.  But my clock doesn't drift more than a fraction of a second
per week now.  I do leave it running Linux for weeks on end tho, boot
DOS once or twice a month...
