RE: Library problems with Java DK

  Hi,

I should have done a little more checking before posting my question
about unresolved references with java.

  Had a look at http://java.blackdown.org/java-linux.html
The Mini-HOWTO there has a page on libraries, which says quite clearly:

You will need the following versions of each package:
    libc version 5.2.18 or greater.
    ld.so version 1.7.14 or greater.

I'm oopserating with ld.so.1 and libc.so.5.0.9, which is the problem.
Sorry for raising questions I should have answered myself.

One more point, though. The same HOWTO says, quite ambiguously:
"In addition it is recommended that you run a 2.0.x or greater linux kernel".

To me 'recommended' means just that, i.e. 'NOT essential'. Any ideas on
this. I'm trying to put off the inevitable upgrade until I go back to
the woods in December.
