The unstated presumption that it's your place to explain to me about
contributing to free alternatives to proprietary products is indeed
insulting.

Not because you're ignorant of who I am and what I've done.
Rather, because *this is a list devoted to free software*.

*Everybody* on this list *deserves the presumption* that they
understand alternatives and would like to contribute to them when they
find the chance, *and probably have already done so*.  Just because
they're here.  Even me.
