Hm.. does not seem to fit.  It's balancing incoming requests to
multiple servers, not i.e. spreading the traffic of a single TCP link
over multiple pathes.
It seems now like there are some opensource implementations "in the
air", without beeing accepted in upstream at this time.  So maybe 
there will be a solution later.

Maybe comparable with the long time it needed for dm-cache to appear
for i.e. caching SSD, or for the time with several filesystems which
resulted in overlayFS now which looks like the generic strategy.
