Re: [tlug] Looking for Summer Internship in Japan

I think I have already made it clear that I do not distinguish between a little pregnant and pregnant.

Thus it does not matter to me if by your method of measurement there is a state you call a little pregnant or more pregnant. To me it is either pregnant or not pregnant.

I also do not think that it is an acceptable excuse to say "but X is even worse" when somebody points out a problem.

Also I believe that amongst all the disingenuous things one could say, the formula "if you don't like it, then why don't you leave" is the most disingenuous of them all.

Besides, I am not looking for work in Japan. I am looking for work FULL STOP. I have always been geographically flexible and will go where the work is, with a few exceptions for war zones etc. I happen to be married to a Japanese and when you have exhausted all your options, you take refuge with family. In other words, I am not specifically targeting Japan in my job search. Before this background your disingenuous comment applies even less.

Have a nice day.

Ok!  You've made yourself very clear.  :-)  But I'm with Stephen in
that what Japan has isn't the same.

I suppose if you've never seen "age discrimination" in countries that
are "worse" than Japan, then seeing what happens in Japan makes you
want to lump it all into one category.  But there are differences and
I agree with Stephen that it isn't the same.  Or, put it another way,
there's a lot worse.

Lumping Japan into the same group as the other places also makes the
other places sound better than what they actually are...  Such is the
problem when you classify something into one of two categories.

If you don't like it, then don't seek employment in Japan.  Surely
there are enough positives about Japan that you can focus your energy
on instead?

PS:  IMHO, Japan is improving in this.  I mean, it's either unchanged
or happening at a snail's pace by western standards but at least it
isn't going in reverse.
