I don't think he is using --system, since root can't access the daemon
(directly) but 'User' can.  At least, it's not being run that way by
root, ISTM.

If he *is* in --system mode, then that would probably explain why the
module for his headphones doesn't get loaded.  In that case he can
probably get his headphones to work by explicitly configuring the
module to load at startup.
