I use EBView, wired up to search both JMDict and GG5.

It is usable, but the UI is a bit rough (e.g. ctrl-c to copy to
clipboard doesn't work, I have to right-click and use the context menu).

I've not touched the configuration in almost 3 years, so I don't
remember if it was trivial or hard work to setup; I may also be using an
old version of JMDict.
