Yes, Akihabara was practically the only choice, especially if you wanted
to buy parts. (Anyone else remember Tokyo PC User Group's Sigi's
Akihabara tours? Or going round collecting flyers for an hour then
squatting in a doorway out of the rain, trying to remember how to get
back to the place where you were told the cheapest price.)

I simply answered "Bobby, bobby"!

Labi. That short stretch of road has Bic on one side, Bic on the other
side too, Labi over there, and Labi (ex-Mitsukoshi) over there too. Not
to mention half a dozen other Bic stores, Sofmap (technically also Bic),
etc.

Ikebukuro has become "Akihabara, Part 2" in another way too: Sunshine
dori is apparently *the* place to go for BL comics, as well as other
manga genre, cosplayer goods, etc.
